Qualification : Brigadier & above in the Army or a person of equivalent rank in Navy /Air Force OR A Police Officer of the rank of Deputy Inspector General OR a person of equivalent rank in the para military forces.
Experience :Inbuilt experience mentioned under the qualification criteria.
Age Limit : Maximum age 55 years [as on 01.09.2008]

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

A. NATIONALITY / CITIZENSHIP:

A candidate must be either i] a citizen of India or ii] a subject of Nepal or iii] a subject of Bhutan or iv] a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 01.01.1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or v] a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania. Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia & Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) or (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India. A Candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination/interview conducted by the Bank, but on final selection the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

NOTE:

COMPUTER LITERACY: Operating computer systems in MS-DOS, MS Windows, Basic concepts of Networking & Connectivity, MS Office [Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.] shall be an essential qualification, which a candidate must either possess or acquire within 6 months from the date of joining the Bank.

HINDI KNOWLEDGE: The candidates should acquire working knowledge of Hindi, if not possessed already, before completion of probationary period.

An Ex-servicemen who has once joined in a Govt. job on the civil side after availing the benefits given to him as an Ex-servicemen for his re-employment, his Ex-servicemen status for the purpose of re-employment in Government ceases.

2. APPLICATION FEE INCLUDING POSTAL CHARGES (NON REFUNDABLE) : Rs.300/-

NOTE:

(i) The requisite application fee must be paid by means of a crossed Demand Draft issued by a Scheduled Commercial Bank in favour of "Canara Bank Recruitment of Chief Security Officer – Project 2008”, payable at Bangalore.

(ii) Demand Draft should have been purchased on or before 03.01.2009.

(iii) Payment of application fee by Cash / Cheque / Money Orders / Postal stamps etc will not be accepted.

(iv) Candidates must write his/her name, post, date of birth on the reverse of the Demand Draft.

3. SELECTION PROCEDURE

Selection will be made on the basis of performance in the interview. Mere satisfying the eligibility criteria does not entitle the candidate to be called for interview. Depending on the number of applications received, the Bank reserves the right to call only a required number of candidates after preliminary screening and shortlisting of applications, with reference to qualification, experience and suitability.

Bank reserves the right to change the selection procedure, if needed. The change, if any, shall be communicated to the candidates in advance.

The final selection will be based on the performance in the Interview only.

4. SCALE OF PAY

Rs. 24,140-620/4-26,620 plus Dearness Allowance of Rs. 10,993.35 (at present) at the minimum of the Scale, Bank Quarters with furniture, Medical Aid, Leave Travel Concession, Conveyance etc., as per rules. The fixation of pay will be made as per the Government guidelines in vogue.

5. PROBATION

ONE [01] year from the date of joining the services of the Bank

The Bank will not be responsible for any loss of application in transit or for rejection of candidature for non receipt of application. The application received after last date shall be rejected.

8. CALL LETTERS

All the communication viz, call letters for interview etc., will be sent to the correspondence address given in the application form by ordinary post only. Request for sending to different addresses subsequently will not be accepted. The interview schedule will be displayed in the Bank’s website.

Bank will not take responsibility for late receipt of interview call letter / any communication to the candidate. Candidates are advised to check the Bank’s website www.canarabank.com / e-mail for information about interviews or for any other communication with regard to subject recruitment.

9. ACTION AGAINST CANDIDATES FOUND GUILTY OF MISCONDUCT

Candidates should not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered, fabricated or suppress any material information while registering the application and submitting the certified copies / testimonials.

At the time of interview, if a candidate is or has been found guilty of using unfair means during the test; or impersonating or procuring impersonation by any person; or misbehaving in the interview hall or resorting to any other irregular or improper means in connection with his/her candidature for the selection; or obtaining support of his/her candidature by any means, such a candidate may in addition to rendering himself/herself liable to criminal prosecution, will be liable

a] to be disqualified from the interview for which he / she is a candidate

b] to be debarred, either permanently or for a specified period from any examination or selection held by the Bank.
